Work Plan 2009

Aims and Strategies:

  • Encouragement of participation in community life by the most vulnerable groups in our community by providing support services such as information, transport, care provision.

  • Facilitate opportunities so that these groups can take part in the economic, social, educational and cultural life of the community.

  • Provide information and support services to the Community and Voluntary Sector, and to all community members in our area, in particular those who are disadvantaged economically, socially, educationally or culturally.

  • Encouragement of co-operation between members of the Community and Voluntary Sector, as well as statutory agencies by creating dialog opportunities, so that a comprehensive plan for the development of the area can be compiled.


Participation of vulnerable groups

Purpose

  • To engage with and encourage those most distanced from the social and cultural life of the community.
  • To provide services to assist those from these groups so that they can contribute to society

Results
Provision of facilities, activities as well as supports such as transport, care provision, etc. so that people from these groups can participate in, and contribute to, the economic, social and cultural life of the community.

 

Community Information Service

Purpose

  • To collate and publish Dialann Mhúscraí and Focal i’d Chluas with information relevant to the target groups, community activities, as well as information on entitlements, benefits, and other supports.
  • Publish newsletters twice monthly, as well as maintaining up-to-date info on website.
  • Focus on pre-development work within the community to enable disadvantaged and raise the profile of issues..

Results

Greater awareness of issues, and the possibilities available to resolve those issues, through involvement in
Community Activities and other elements of the program.
Information about, and access to, benefits /entitlements etc.
Information about, and access to Social, Educational and Cultural Opportunities.

 

Support to Community and Voluntary Groups

Purpose

  • Work with and support established groups in the Community and Voluntary Sector.
  • Ensure a social inclusion, anti-poverty and equality focus in the work of those groups.
  • Bringing together of groups from the Community and Voluntary Sector to work co-operatively on issues which impact most severely on the target groups.
  • Development of planned initiatives to respond to those issues. Shape the work of other agencies to ensure that delivery of government policy at local level is tailored to meet those needs as efficiently and effectively as possible.

Results

More effective targeting of initiatives at local level so that they meet the needs as articulated by members of the target groups.
Effective, planned initiatives, from which lessons can be learned through thorough evaluation and examination of results achieved

  

Supporting Development Opportunities

Purpose:

Formation of networks so that collaborations between the community sector and statutory agencies and social partners can plan efficiently and progress development opportunities in the community
Provide support service to C & V sector so that they can devise and deliver development plan for the area.

Results:

Coherent development plans to address the problems faced by the community, minimise threats, and to  use our skills and resources efficiently
