Trip to Curraheen Park

On the 15th of October a group of about 40 people from the locality went to Curraheen Park Greyhound Stadium for a night out.

Curraheen Park is one of the leading greyhound tracks in Ireland which has top class racing every week. When we arrived at the stadium we were treated to a meal which was thoroughly enjoyed by everyone. After our meal we got booklets showing the form of each dog racing that night. Over the course of the night this booklet  proved to be a vital tool for us in deciding which dog we were going to put our money on. There were 10 races in all on the night. Some of the races went against us and some went our way when we had winners but that’s the nature of greyhound racing, you win some and you lose some. One of the ladies in the group said that she had a free night out because her winnings from the races paid for her meal and the bets she had put down. Everyone had a great time and when the races finished Joe Mac and his band played music and a dance started. The music was great and enjoyed by all.  When it was time for us to head home we all agreed that we must call back again soon in the not too distant future.
