The Respite to Care Grant helps to pay for alternative family or institutional care for a person with a disability in order to enable the carer to take a short break, holiday or rest.
The Department of Social Protection pays a Respite Care Grant in June each year to certain carers. It is automatically paid to those getting Carer's Allowance, Carer's Benefit, Domiciliary Care Allowance, Constant Attendent Allowance, or Prescribed Relative Allowance.
If you are not getting one of these payments but are caring for someone on a full time basis you may still be eligible for this grant.
