St. Gobnait's conference was established in November 1986 and is part of the St. Vincent de Paul Society Ireland. It operates in the following areas: Baile Mhúirne, Cúil Aodha, Cill na Martra, Réidh na nDoirí, Clondrohid and Carriganima. It was established to assist families and individuals in the area who may face financial difficulty due to unemployment, illness,breavement, educational expenses etc.
It provides financial support, visitation to the elderly or to those socially isolated due to illness, and support for families who may not have usual family supports. Since the conference was estabilished it has supported 360 families and individuals and has supported 17 students throughout their entire 3rd level course.
