Recent Courses. .

Computers for Beginners and Improvers

The Beginners course is aimed at people who have little
or no previous experience working with computers. The
Improvers course is suitable for those with some
computer skills and would like to learn more.

Daytime classes on Monday, Wednesday and Thursday. Night time classes on Monday, Tuesday ans Friday.

Because of the demand all classes are currently full. 

FETAC Level 5 Childcare .

Child Development Early Childhood Education and Communications -these
are 3 of the mandatory modules required for FETAC
Level 5 Certificate in Childcare. 

This course runs one night per week for 3 hours  some saturdays may also be included

Craft & Textiles Sewing Skills .

This course aims to provide sewing skills to both
beginners and those who wish to improve their sewing
skills. Whether you would like to learn how to sew in a
button or make a Roman Blind this course is for you.

The Kitchen Garden/ grow your own fruit & vegetables.


This course is designed for those just starting out gardening & those who are already growing vegetables, fruit and herbs. This course will include seed sowing, composting, companion planting, mulching, raised beds & containers and much more.
One night per week  7.30pm - 9.30pm for 6 weeks approx.

Horticulture and Gardening .

Learn about choosing the right plants, planting, growing,
flowers, bulbs, fruit and vegetables, looking after your
garden and much more.

Positive Parenting .

This course aims to be a useful way of gaining an
understanding of what causes children to behave in
certain ways and of positive things that parents can do
to get the behaviour that they would like to see.
• Self esteem for all the family
• Dealing with emotions
• Love and limits - Resolving Conflict
• Health, stress, drugs and peer pressure

Irish Red Cross – Practical First Aid .

This course is suitable for those who wish to learn
about first aid and obtain a first aid certificate and is
also a refresher course for those whose first aid
certificate is out of date. It will run on a Friday
evening & Saturday in September. Places limited.

Cookery Course for Men .

This course is aimed at teaching men how to cook some
basic dishes in a casual and fun setting. Course will take
place one night per week for 8 weeks approx.

With Sheila - Anne O’Leary and Bridget Lawlor of ‘Nua Training
and Development’ designed for those who either
• Are looking for employment
• Wish to change careers
• Start up their own business
• Already have their own business

Mind your own Business! Business Health Check

for established / existing businesses.
Workshops focusing on critical aspects of business
management, for example:
• Effective planning for the future
• Getting the best out of your staff
• Debt management
• Costing and pricing your product or service
• Maximising the market &Improving Cash flow
• Minimising Risk
Participants will be able to avail of a one-to-one session
with Sheila Anne or Bridget to explore best options for the
future.

Work Options . . .where do I go from here?

This Course is suited to people who are considering
changing career paths, returning to work, or for those
who are who are in between jobs. The course will cover:
• Identify your priorities and balance them with
your commitments
• How to recognise your skills, talents and
abilities and how to use them to earn an income
• How to set goals for the future which are
simple, measurable, and realistic
• Identifying the different ways of working
• Writing a CV and applying for work

For people who are considering setting up their own
Business. The course will cover aspects such as:
• How to assess yourself, skills, knowledge and
attributes for self employment
• How work/home life style fits in with self
employment and running a business
• How to assess your business idea
• How to set your goals and plan for the future
• What a Business Plan will contain and why you
need one
• Responsibilities of running your own business

FETAC Level 5 Certificate
Childcare Modules

Approx 20 learners  participated in the Childcare programme which commenced in January 2008. The programme is delivered on a module by module,  part time basis – one evening per week for 3 hours per session. This programme offers it’s participants the opportunity to achieve FETAC certification in childcare modules . Some funding for this programme comes from the Dept Of Education through the Back to Education Initiative which offers education/training to adults who may have
left school early / have no formal educatiion
Are unemployed, or in part time / low paid employment
Are in receipt of a social welfare payment
It mainly targets the following groups: ESL/ no formal education, Unemployed or in low paid employment.
